I’m continuing my series of Starbucks K-Cup reviews with Caffè Verona.
I received a handful of these yummy K-Cups from one of my husband’s clients. He bought the mondo-sized box from Costco and was courageously plowing through them even though he didn’t care for the taste. Costco sells a box of 54 for $35.00, so that’s about 62 cents a piece. Not too shabby.
While Keurig has most of the Starbucks K-Cups for sale at their site now, they won’t have Verona until March.
This was my second Starbucks K-Cup to try, and I was definitely happy with it. It’s rich and sweet and doesn’t give me a stomachache like the Pike Place. It’s dark but not acidic and is somewhat spicy at the end.
I really liked these at first but after a while I noticed a bit of a stale finish. It’s still an enjoyable K-Cup, but I can live without it. This brew is similar to Green Mountain Dark Magic and Green Mountain Espresso Blend, but their aftertaste is smoother. If you’re looking for a Starbucks-ish taste, these will probably suit you well. They are worth trying but may not end up being your favorite.
So far, I have not been disappointed in the Starbucks K-Cups I have tried (Verona, Breakfast Blend, Pike Place, and Sumatra). I think I prefer them to Starbucks’ drip coffee because they don’t seem as strong in K-Cup form.
I was able to get my hands on a couple of Starbucks Sumatra K-Cups this week–the best yet! I’ll try to crank out a review soon.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you!
I’m excited to join the conversations on K-cups, since my husband bought me a Keuger Coffee maker for X-mas. Thanks for all the information today. Look forward to exchanging different flavors. =)

Janeth, thanks for stopping by the site. I hope it will continue to be helpful to you.:)
Mary Beth, I have also been sampling the Starbucks K-cups. Some very nice offerings! HOWEVER, I have had a terrible time with poorly sealed cups from them. I have had to return many boxes of Starbucks’ K-cups — because of leaky lids. These are easy to spot, because, if the lids are properly sealed, they will normally be rounded out, not “flaccid”. Flaccid lids men that the lids are not well sealed; and this means they are very apt to burst during the brewing cycle (making a terrible mess, in addition to not providing a clear brew — full of grounds, instead).
I refuse to accept K-cups that are not properly made, and I have given up on Starbucks’ brand — after returning more than half of their packages (I accept them if only one or a scant few cups are poorly sealed, but there is no excuse for their poor quality control). Further, for much less cost, I have found some “Private Selection”, Kroger brand, K-cups that I really like — such as their “Venetian Reserve”. The Kroger brand k-cups, in my experience, very seldom have flaccid lids.
