It’s chilly in our house this morning, and I’m holding my mug of Kenyan AA tightly for warmth.
I first tried these three Green Mountain K-Cups around the same time, and I found my reactions to them were pretty similar. All are good quality and flavorful but not ones that I gravitate toward on a regular basis. If you’re into variety with your K-Cups, and you enjoy smooth extra bold roasts, these could all be up your alley.
Espresso Blend— Nice aroma. Rich, yummy flavor. Spicy with only slight linger on the palate. Some light berry notes at the end. Strong but not super acidic. I expected it would be too strong but it’s not over-the-top. It gives some punch but not a stomach ache. This is my favorite of the three.
Kenyan AA–Somewhat smoky, reminds me of a Columbian blend but better, smoother. The finish is actually the best part. That’s where you taste most of the flavor. This blend is not bad but not too exciting either. It’s also the only medium roast of the three.
Double Black Diamond–This is my least favorite of the three but still good quality. It takes A LOT of cream for me to drink it, but a lot of cream is not necessarily a bad thing (almost not enough room in my mug for all of it). It has a very rich flavor with strong berry notes at the finish. I grew tired of this K-Cup faster than the others.
Note: Extra Bold K-Cups are packed with extra coffee but aren’t necessarily dark roasts. I tend to forget that, but it does help in knowing what you’re getting.
Thanks for doing all of this work with your all star pallate. I find this world of K-Cups just confusing only recently receiving a Keurig.
