I am a fan of coconuts, and I expected (hoped) to taste the coconut more. It was pretty understated. You can definitely smell it, which is nice. The aroma fills the air with that sweet coconut smell. Delightful! Actually, I could smell it through the plastic before I brewed. I had this one in a container with others and when I opened the said container, out came that lovely coconut aroma.
This is a smooth, light roast coffee with nary a bad aftertaste. Thank goodness! I added some sugar to see if it would bring out the coconut taste. It didn’t really help.
A happy ending: I decided to pair it with dark chocolate. One bite of chocolate for each sip of coconut coffee = delicious!
The next day: I only had one Island Coconut K-Cup and wanted to try it iced too, so I saved the rest for the next day and iced it. That was a BIG improvement. I’ve heard others rave about this K-Cup iced, and I can see the appeal. I think maybe this is how it was meant to be enjoyed.
The recipe for success: Cream, a little sugar, iced with dark chocolate on the side.
So that’s the story. What are your feelings about Island Coconut? Have you tried it yet?
